Grrrrrrrr.... please ignore post 2.
The thing came and said I didn't fill a tag so I hit submit again....
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Which one is post 2?
How about if you go to the other post and add a reply with a title like 'Ignore this post. Reply to the other post.'? I say that because I already replied to this post.
You should also change the body of the other post so that it just says something like the title suggested above. That way your real question is in only one post.
Your numbers don't match what I see
I looked at the Knoppix.org web site. I went to their download page. The v5.0 Knoppix iso file is 712,926 KB. That means that it will (barely) fit on a 680 MB CD-ROM.
Given all the rounding of numbers having to do with file size it seems to me that your 67 MB file may, in fact, be a 670 MB file. If your iso file really is too small then delete the copy that you already have and then use the Knoppix ftp site and download it again. Check the file integrity with the MD5 checksum available at the same place. If the file passes the MD5 sum check then you have the real thing in its entirety.
I must be missing something as well
There is a DVD Version of Knoppix Live though I didn't get it from the Knoppix.org site and although I use it quite a lot now for new hardware I'm not overly sure where it originally came from but all the Install versions of Knoppix that I've ever used have been CD Based.
I don't know what you downloaded but it certainly doesn't sound right.

Knoppix 5 DVD ISO location
Please browse to following location:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/dist/knoppix/knoppix-dvd/
You will see not only a Knoppix 5 DVD ISO but also a Knoppix 4 DVD ISO. When I click on the link that says KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.iso and begin the download that's when the 'fun' starts. I'm interested in seeing how someone else makes out.
Cheers.
Well when I start downloading these files
KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.iso
It comes in at a little over 4 Gig and this file
KNOPPIX_V4.0.2DVD-2005-09-23-EN.iso
Comes in at about 3.187 GIG which looks about right.
However they are ISO images so you'll need to convert them to a Bootable DVD when you record them to DVD.

probably clicked the wrong thing
Are you sure you didn't click the wrong link? The following is listed as being a 70MB file:
KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.iso.md5
This is what you actually want:
KNOPPIX_V5.0.1DVD-2006-06-01-EN.iso
I'd just download it myself and arrange to give it to you directly, but the terms of the GPL would require me to then maintain an archive of source code for all GPLed software included in the Knoppix DVD image in a publicly-accessible location for download, which is just not feasible for me. Yes, really. I'm not a huge fan of the GPL for this reason among others
Knoppix Iso Download
bad download, use a torrent
There was miscomunication somewhere, between your browser and the server. Try a download over a more robust protocol, like Bittorent. Bittorrent software does a variety of checksumming and integrity checks on the file, both after and during the download. You will need to get a bittorrent client, but they are freely available. There is the official bittorrent client, which is rather spartan, or you can use a variety third party tools. I use azureus to download whatever I need.

Download Knoppix 8.1 Iso
I will indeed either try from another location or use Bit Torrent.
Like the proverbial definition of 'crazy' I tried the same tired actions 2 X the same way and wondered why I didn't get a differnet outcome ( LOL)
I'll keep you posted, it won't be for 48 hours or so til I can get another Internet connection.
And I also know how to burn an ISO so it's bootable, what threw me for a loop was I was expecting a 4 Gb file and it came in at 67 Mb...
Thanks again
